New London resident Quadell Daniels, 32, pleaded guilty in Hartford to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, U.S. Attorney John Durham announced on Tuesday.

According to court documents, in April 2017, Daniels and his girlfriend frequented a pawn shop in Hinesville, Georgia. Daniels - who has previous convictions for attempted assault and possession of a firearm without a permit - provided cash to his girlfriend to purchase two guns on his behalf. He then transported the firearms back to Connecticut.

In July that year, Daniels and his girlfriend purchased another five guns at the same pawn shop, which were transported to Connecticut.

On July 20, 2017, members of the Connecticut Statewide Narcotics Task Force East and New London Police Department conducted a court-authorized search of a New London residence and seized a Beretta, Model BU9 Nano, 9mm pistol, and a Jimenez Arms, Model J.A. Nine, 9mm pistol.

Two of the seven firearms purchased by Daniels and his girlfriend were recovered during that search. Durham noted that it is a violation of federal law for a person with a previous felony conviction to possess a weapon or ammunition that has moved in interstate commerce.

Daniels was arrested on Dec. 1, 2017, and remains released on a $100,000 bond. Daniels is scheduled to be sentenced on June 3, when he will face a maximum term of 10 years in prison.
