SHELTON, Conn. — The Rotary Club of Derby-Shelton is holding its annual Kentucky Derby Party and Auction at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Brownson Country Club in Shelton.
Tickets are $40 per person. There is an "owner's box" table of 10 tickets for $350.
The event will feature a buffet dinner, cash bar and special awards for the Best Hat/Bow Tie. A silent auction will be offered and attendees can watch the Kentucky Derby live on a large screen television.
For more than 30 years, Rotarians have hosted the auction fundraiser to support the Derby-Shelton Rotary Foundation scholarship fund. Each year, the club awards more than $12,000 in scholarships to Derby and Shelton High School seniors continuing their education. The club has given out over $300,000.
The Derby-Shelton Rotary Club holds three fundraisers each year: The Shelton Day Festival, Hoptoberfest and an Annual Auction. Money raised from both events is distributed back to Derby and Shelton.
