SHELTON, Conn. — Shelton is taking part in "The Great Give," an annual 36-hour day of giving to help raise money for local nonprofits. The day of giving began Tuesday at 8 a.m. and was scheduled to run through Wednesday, May 4, at 8 p.m., but has been extended to Thursday, May 5 at noon.
Last year, the drive raised more than $1 million for area nonprofits. The following is a list of nonprofits in Shelton taking part in the fundraising competition:

- Boy’s & Girl’s Club of Lower Naugatuck Valley

- SHS Robotics Team
- Shelton Historical Society
- Adam’s House
GiveGreater.org is an online searchable database of nonprofit organizations serving Greater New Haven and the Lower Naugatuck Valley of Connecticut. It was created by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven in 2010.
The website aims to increase the amount of giving to local nonprofit organizations and strengthen the nonprofit sector in the region by increasing visibility and transparency.
Profiles of more than 300 nonprofits populate the site, providing information to donors about the needs and opportunities of the region, programs and services, governance, financials and community impact.
Nonprofits are listed in one or more of nine categories: Support Arts & Culture, Care of Animals, Meet Basic Needs, Promote Civic Vitality, Boost Economic Success, Provide Quality Education, Protect the Environment, Ensure Health & Wellness and Nurture Children & Youth.
