FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- They say everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, and no doubt Fairfield County residents would agree. Celebrations kick off early -- starting now -- and run for a full two weeks, providing plenty of opportunities to get your green on.

Saturday, March 5

The Stamford St. Patrick's Day parade begins at noon on Summer and North. You'll also find a huge outdoor festival celebrating the Emerald Isle taking place courtesy of Tigin Irish Pub on Bedford Street complete with The Irish Band playing from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with The Last Hoorah from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Information: or go to

Get your toes tapping and your spirit soaring with an Irish-themed musical performance at Danbury Library (170 Main St.) featuring the talents of Danbury’s own Irish music duo, Two Lads, Bob Carlsen and Kevin Moore. By day, Carlsen is senior legal counsel at Connecticut-based Accenture, and Moore is a corporate communications professional from Danbury, serving Fairfield and New Haven counties. Noon is the kick-off time for the 24th annual Bridgeport St. Patrick's Day parade led by Grand Marshal, Alanna Kabel of Bridgeport. The marchers will travel through downtown Bridgeport, beginning at Harbor Yard up Broad Street to Fairfield Avenue and return to Harbor Yard via Main Street. Information: .

Stamford's Tigin Irish Pub (175 Bedford St.) will be celebrating all day from the time it opens at 10 a.m. till whenever it closes at night. Expect live music and plenty of like-minded souls going "green." Information:

Enjoy a night of Irish-flavored comedy with the “Colleens of Comedy!” at Stamford's Palace Theatre (61 Atlantic St.) at 8 p.m. Comedian Maureen Langan grew up the daughter of Irish immigrants and is a regular at Caroline’s Comedy Club in Manhattan. She's also opened for Joy Behar, Steven Wright and Rosie O’Donnell. Greenwich’s Jane Condon is originally Boston Irish and has continually played to a sold out house during her Ladies of Laughter appearance. The 42nd annual St. Patrick's Day parade sponsored by the Greenwich Hibernian Association starts at 2 p.m. in front of the Town Hall (101 Field Point Road) and continues down Greenwich Avenue. Information: .

Celebrate Irish pride at the Danbury St. Patrick's Day parade. The step off time is 3 p.m. from Center Street before heading down Main Street, left onto West Street and continuing down to the AOH club on Lake Avenue.
