Tolland County resident, Bryan Flint Sr., age 64, of Ellington, was deputy director of the Cornerstone Foundation in the Rockville section of Vernon, died in the crash on I-95 on Sunday, May 7, which also injured his two grandchildren.

The foundation said on its website that their "hearts are broken," over the loss of Flint.

"Bryan had a huge heart that was always open to helping people who were struggling," the foundation said. "He found the time to do that little extra to make life easier for someone even when he himself was extremely busy.

The impact Bryan has had on Cornerstone and our entire community will never be forgotten," they added.

Flint was also known throughout the area for entertaining children with magic acts, and his Uncle Sam outfit he wore while walking on stilts in the annual Vernon Fourth of July celebration.

His goodness and popularity were evident on Monday when more than 200 people responded to a post on the Cornerstone's Facebook page announcing Flint's death.

One writer replied: "My daughter will always remember Bryan as the magic man and the man on the stilts."

While still, another wrote: "Our community has lost a true gem. Bryan’s giving spirit and great sense of humor touched countless lives. Prayers for his family and for everyone who loved him."

Plans for a memorial service have not been announced.
