RIDGEFIELD, Conn. - A combination of tennis, badminton and ping-pong, the sport of Pickleball will be returning to Ridgefield Parks and Recreation for its third annual tournament at the end of the month.
"It's a fun and east sport to learn," said Pickleball instructor Janice Pauly.
Ridgefield Parks & Recreation will be hosting the Third Annual Pickleball Tournament on May 22 and 23. This tournament will include singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
Players in the 30 to 39 and 40 to 49 age groups are eligible to participate, and participants ages 50 or over will be grouped in five-year age divisions.
The entry fee is $35 per person with check-in beginning at 8 a.m. and play beginning at 9 a.m.
An awards ceremony with pizza and music will be held after the games May 23. First, second and third place winners of the tournament who are 50 years old or older will qualify for 2014 National Games in Cleveland.
