The initial investigation revealed that Anne Wade, a 54-year-old Stamford resident, was entering her vehicle, which was parked in the lot at 15 High Ridge Rd., Stamford Police said.

According to witnesses, Wade was having problems releasing her emergency brake before she exited her vehicle and was then somehow able to get the brake released, according to police. Once the brake was released, the vehicle started rolling backward.

The vehicle knocked Wade to the ground and then ran her over, causing serious, but non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Her vehicle continued going in reverse until it came to rest after striking a Jeep Wrangler that had also just backed out of a parking space, police said. No one in the Jeep suffered any injuries.

Wade was transported to Stamford Hospital by Stamford EMS where she was treated for her injuries and then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit.

Anyone with any further information on this collision is asked to contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad at (203) 977-4712.
