Separate surveillance videos led to the arrest of a man who admitted breaking into a home and an attempted burglary of another residence in Fairfield, police said.

A homeowner on Old Oaks Road reported On Saturday, Oct. 12 at 12:15 a.m. that a white male tried to open his garage and walked around his property, according to Fairfield Police. Surveillance video showed a white man wearing a baseball hat and a hoodie with a graphic on the front. Officers searched the area, but he was not located at that time.

At 4:38 a.m. Fairfield Police received a second call for a burglary to a garage on Algonquin Road. The suspect fit the description of the burglary attempt at Old Oaks Road, according to police. In that robbery, the suspect was able to remove a pane of plexiglass to gain entry into the garage, said police. The house at Algonquin Road also had surveillance, which revealed a suspect with the same description and clothing as the suspect from Old Oaks Road.

Officers observed Michael J. Targouski, 46, of Fairfield walking on Brooklawn Avenue near Algonquin Road, said police.

It was determined that Targouski was allegedly the same man seen on the surveillance video from both Old Oaks Road and Algonquin Road. Targouski later admitted to both the burglary and the burglary attempt.

Targouski, of Knapps Highway, was charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary for the Old Oaks burglary attempt and burglary for making entry to the garage at the house on Algonquin Road. Targouski was held on a total of $25,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
