Police Ask Public's Help After Hit-Run Motorist Strikes, Injures 14-Year-Old In Darien

A hit-and-run driver struck and injured a 14-year-old boy in Darien and police are asking the public's help in finding the motorist.

Darien Police are asking for help in locating the hit-and-run driver who they say struck and injured a 14-year-old boy on Locust Hill Road as the vehicle turned right onto Old Kings Highway South.

The teen was riding his bicycle on Old Kings Highway South near the intersection of Locust Hill Road on Thursday, July 11 around 8:50 a.m., according to Darien Police.

As he was headed south towards Locust Hill Road, he crossed from the west side of the street to the east side as he approached the intersection of Locust Hill Road, police said.

At the same time, a vehicle going west on Locust Hill Road turned right onto Old Kings Highway South. 

As it negotiated the turn onto Old Kings Highway South, the vehicle struck the rear tire of the boy's bicycle, knocking him to the ground, according to police.

The vehicle did not stop, continuing North on Old Kings Highway South, said police.

The vehicle was described as a dark-colored sedan/hatchback, possibly a BMW, according to police.

No further information was available. The boy was taken to Stamford hospital where it was determined he suffered a broken bone and numerous abrasions, police said.
