Both incidents occurred in the southwest area of town, police said.

The most recent attack occurred Thursday, Aug. 22 at around 7 a.m.

An Adams Lane resident attempted to chase down two large coyotes when one of the coyotes grabbed, killed and ran off with a 13-pound chihuahua mix.

The first incident happened on Monday, Aug. 19 when a labrador retriever on Knapp Lane sustained puncture wounds on its hind leg, which is believed to have been caused by a coyote. The dog's owner saw two large coyotes in his yard, police said.

Pet owners are reminded by police to be watchful and always supervise their dogs any time of day.
