RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Juliette F. August of Ridgefield died Jan. 15 at Hancock Hall in Danbury. She was 89.
August was born March 26, 1923, in Jersey City, N.J. She attended Jersey City schools moved to Connecticut upon graduating from high school.
An electronic technician, August was formerly employed by General Electric and in later years with PerkinElmer. She was also associated with the building of the Hubble Space Telescope.
August was a support responder at congregate housing in Ridgefield and a former poll worker. She attended St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Ridgefield.
She is survived by a son, Mark (Deborah) August, of Bow, N.H.; five daughters, Beverly Jean Hemmingway (James) Littlejohn, of Colorado, Karen August, of New Milford, Janet (Amy Atamian) August, of Redding, Valerie (Carol Alessi) August, of New York City, and Laurel (Marco) Beteta, of Danbury; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Sullivan.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Kane Funeral Home in Ridgefield. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Wendy Altopp officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Ridgefield.
