RIDGEFIELD, Conn. - Dolores Broughton Robinson of Ridgefield died Aug. 26. She was 87.
Robinson was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Buffalo, N.Y., daughter of Norbert and Lavinia Broughton. She was raised and educated in Washington, D.C., where she was a graduate of a University of the District of Columbia predecessor college, where she excelled, attained supplementary certificates of continuing education from Bank Street College of Education and other institutions. She served as the Ridgefield Community Kindergarten’s teacher and director for more than 45 years from the school’s founding as a private institution in 1959.
Robinson is survived by her sisters, Rita Jane Brandon, Pauline Ellen Mitchell, and Agnes Elizabeth Nickens; children, Constance Tilden Loeser and Ashton Morris Robinson; daughter-in-law, Ellen Life Robinson; three grandchildren; a grandson-in-law; and a great-grandchild; many nephews, nieces; and grandnephews and grandnieces. She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Phoebe Ann Reeves.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield. Funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Resident Council, Laurel Ridge Health Care Center, 642 Danbury Rd., Ridgefield, CT 06877.
