East Hartford resident Alexander Pedraza, 28, has been sentenced in Bridgeport district court to 120 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for sex trafficking of a minor.

Pedraza admitted to promoting the prostitution of a 16-year-old girl by advertising her prostitution services and soliciting clients on backpage.com. In March 2017, Pedraza harbored his victims in motel rooms in Hartford, Windsor, and East Windsor, where clients paid Pedraza for the teenager to perform sexual actions.

U.S. Attorney John Durham said that Pedraza also had sexual contact with his victim.

The investigation into Pedraza’s operation determined that between September and December 2016, Pedraza also engaged in the sex trafficking of at least two other 18-year-old girls.

Pedraza has been detained since he was arrested on May 17, 2017. On Feb. 11 this year, Pedraza pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking a minor.
