Ridgefield, Conn. – The more than 200 walkers that participated in Ridgefield's First Annual Ridgefield Walk to Cure Diabetes raised more than twice their goal of $35,100.
The 23 teams walked in October and raised $76,396 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF, to research for a cure for diabetes.
One group, Team Chamber-Ridgefield, raised more than $37,000 alone.
There are more than 200 walks organized around the world every year, and nationally nearly 500,000 people walked to cure diabetes last year. Collectively, the JDRF Walks raised more than $80 million last year, and are expected to raise $86 million this year for diabetes research.
