RIDGEFIELD, CONN. -- The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts has received a grant from the Connecticut Arts Endowment Fund.
The $5,248 grant can be used for capital expenses, administrative costs or general programming.
In addition to the benefits for the Playhouse, the grant also will help enrich Ridgefield and neighboring communities by helping to provide concerts and special events that help support the local economy and generate tourism dollars, the playhouse said.
The grant will help the playhouse provide residents with an opportunity to experience the arts through, for example, its Arts for Everyone Community Outreach Program, the playhouse said. By providing free tickets, this program brings the performing arts to those who would otherwise be unable to attend these enriching stage productions, the playhouse said. The program also allows the playhouse to offer tickets to families in low-income areas, as well as to people with disabilities, the playhouse said.
