RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Kendell Carlson, a senior at Ridgefield High School, was recently chosen by state Distinguished Young Women officials to represent the state in the national contest, in June, as reported on Ridgefield HamletHub.

Distinguished Young Women -- formerly known as the America's Junior Miss competition -- is a scholarship program that was founded in 1958. According to that article, this scholarship was also awarded to Diane Sawyer, Amy Goodman and Julie Moran.

Carlson said she would recommend the process to anyone, Ridgefield HamletHub reported. Read the full story on Ridgefield HamletHub here.
