Every Thursday during the month of October, proceeds from The Cake Box's "Eloise" cupcakes will be donated to CureSearch.
The cupcakes are inspired by the artwork of Elizabeth Butler's niece, who succumbed to cancer in 2010 when she was just 14-years-old.
“When a merchant like The Cake Box helps raise money for our cause, they are actually helping local families,” Butler said in a statement. “CureSearch supports clinical trials at hospitals such as Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Yale University and New York Medical College.
These trials can save children’s lives today, and help accelerate new therapies to children.”
Donations to CureSearch are directed toward scientific research that targets understanding why cancer spreads, developing medications that prevent this spread, understanding the adaptability of some cancer cells to become drug-resistant, and increasing the speed at which drugs move from the laboratory to the patient.
The Cake Box is located at 1 Big Shop Lane in Ridgefield.
