What's Happening In Ridgefield This Weekend

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – It’s a weekend of festivals in Ridgefield with the annual Chekov festival and the Community C.A.R.N.I.V.A.L. Here are some of the events happening this weekend. For more visit our events page.

Friday, Sept. 21

Chekov Festival Opening Reception: 6 to 7 p.m. The Chekhov International Theatre Festival is held annually in Ridgefield. The festival will take place all weekend with an opening reception Friday. For the full schedule visit the website. Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, 258 Main St., Ridgefield.

Community Carnival: 6 to 10 p.m. It’s the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce’s first annual Community Carnival, and it will go on through the weekend with rides, games and many other activities. The carnival will also be open Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Ridgefield Parks & Recreation, 195 Danbury Road, Ridgefield.

Football Game: 7 to 9 p.m. The Ridgefield football team plays its first away game. Fairfield Ludlowe High School, 785 Unquowa Road, Fairfield.

Peter Yarrow and Paul Stookey: 8 to 11 p.m. Grammy winners Peter and Paul of Peter, Paul and Mary will be performing some of their greatest hits as a tribute to Mary Travers. Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 E. Ridge Road, Ridgefield.

Saturday, Sept. 22

Drop In Activities: Noon to 5 p.m. Take part in hands-on activities inspired by some of the current exhibits. Aldrich Museum, 258 Main St., Ridgefield.

Grand Funk Railroad: 8 to 11 p.m. Internationally known band Grand Funk Railroad will perform. The band laid the groundwork for many with its hard-driving sound, soulful vocals and forceful pop melodies. Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 E. Ridge Road, Ridgefield.

Sunday, Sept. 23

Du-It Duathlon: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s the second annual Ridgefield Duathalon. Participants will run 2.5 miles, bike 13 Miles and run 2.5 miles through Ridgefield’s backcountry. Starting point is Fairfield County Bank, 150 Danbury Road, Ridgefield.

Kenny Loggins’ Band: 8 to 11 p.m. Kenny Loggins and his band Blue Sky Riders, Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman, will take the stage. Special guests country duo Carly & Eliza will join them. Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 E. Ridge Road, Ridgefield.
