Ridgefield Playhouse Welcomes Christopher Plummer

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Academy Award-winner Christopher Plummer is coming to the Ridgefield Playhouse for a screening of his film “Beginners” on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 7:30 p.m.

Plummer will be available after the film for a question-and-answer session led by Ridgefield resident Ira Joe Fisher. This is not the first time Plummer has been a guest of the Playhouse, Fisher said. When the Playhouse showed one of Plummer’s films last year, it was sold out.

Ridgefield residents “love Christopher; he’s a neighbor,” Fisher said. And he is always happy to answer questions.

Plummer, who lives in Weston, earned the Oscar for best supporting actor for his role in “Beginners,” in which he plays opposite Ewan McGregor.

The film follows the story of a young man, McGregor, who must come to terms with the life and death of his father, Plummer, while starting a relationship with a woman, Melanie Laurent, who is dealing with her own father issues. According to the Ridgefield Playhouse’s synopsis, the film is based on the life of the writer and producer Mike Mills.

According to the Playhouse, at a recent Film Society screening, more than 50 people were turned away because of limited seating. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7.50 for seniors and $5 for students. Early reservations are recommended.

For information or to purchase reserved tickets, go to the Ridgefield Playhouse online or call 203-438-5795.
