Poundstone likes to interact spontaneously with her audience. She also can be heard on NPR’s “Morning Edition,” the “Huffington Post” and comedy site “23/6.”

The star of several solo HBO and Bravo specials, Poundstone was the first woman to win an ACE Award (the Cable Emmy Award) for Best Standup Comedy Performance and the first woman to be invited to perform at the distinguished White House Correspondents’ dinner which the president of the United States attends.

“Paula Poundstone’s comedy is observational and improvisational, and this makes people relax and laugh. By design, the Playhouse show with Paula Poundstone is on a Friday night when the work week is over, and we can kick off the weekend with a fun evening,” said Allison Stockel, executive director of The Ridgefield Playhouse, in a prepared statement.

This event is part of the Clark Construction Comedy Series and is underwritten by FormFitting Fitness, of Brookfield, promoting female power and a lighthearted approach to life. Media sponsor is WSHU 91.1 FM - Public Radio Group. Other shows in this series include Colin Quinn’s “Unconstitutional” Oct. 5 and Richard Lewis on Oct. 18.

Bissell House, 378 Main St., will pour a free glass of house wine or draft beer with dinner the night of this show when tickets/stubs are presented.

For tickets ($60 Gold Circle w/Meet & Greet, $50 orchestra, $45 mezzanine), call or visit the box office at 203-438-5795, or order online.
