It is a culmination of the Chekhov International Theatre's eighth annual festival season. Named for actor, director and producer Michael Chekhov, the festival honors the legacy of the acting teacher who started his school in Ridgefield before moving to California.

On Sept. 22, the musical "Seeger" will be performed at at 7:30 p.m. at East Ridge Middle School. Written and performed by Randy Noojin, in this multimedia one-man show, Noojin reenacts Pete Seeger’s 1982 benefit concert in Cuba, advocating for free speech and unity.

On Sept. 23, the festival presents "Strange Country," a new play by award-winning playwright Anne Adams. Set for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23, at East Ridge Middle School, the play is a drama about family, love, dependence, sobriety, mental illness and manipulation.

On Sept 24, a 2 p.m. production of "Milk" by the new theater company Thrown Stone will be held at Ridgefield Town Hall. Written by Ross Dunsmore, "Milk" explores the universal need to feed and to be fed; physically, emotionally, spiritually.

Tickets for these three shows are $20 for each performance, $35 for a weekend pass.

And on Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m., New York’s The Drilling Company will present an outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s timeless comedy "Much Ado About Nothing" in Ballard Park. Goodwill donations are accepted.

The play is considered one of Shakespeare's greatest comedies. The Drilling Company just completed 22nd season of Shakespeare in New York City.

By bringing these live performances to Ridgefield, the festival honors the legacy of the Chekhov who established the Chekhov Ridgefield School for actors in a local barn. He worked with such actors as Gregory Peck, Ingrid Bergman, Marilyn Monroe, Yul Brenner, and Grace Kelly.
