Wait-y Issue For Girls Basketball Team

For the second time this week, weather has delayed the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference girls basketball playoffs.

Norwalk’s Tom Kriz will coach Trinity Catholic against St. Joseph of Trumbull in the final, now scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

“When I’ve been in situations like this, the anticipation is always the hardest part,’’ Kriz said. “I’d rather play at 6 in the morning than wait around all day.”[breakhere]

The Crusaders, the No. 2 seed, feature several players from Norwalk. They include Kellie Hurd, Lauren Hurd, Caillin Ornousky, Eileen Ornousky, Jovan Kingwood and Sarah Rivera. Eileen Ornousky scored nine points in the Crusaders’ 51-43 victory over Ridgefield in Wednesday’s semifinals.

Trinity Catholic (19-3) lost to St. Joseph during the regular season, 61-47, on Dec. 16.  Top-seeded St. Joseph (20-2) advanced to the final with a 45-37 win over New Canaan.
