The SoNo Athletic Club rowing team got its season off to a terrific start over the weekend in the San Diego Crew Classic, winning all four of the races in which it was entered. In races on Saturday, SoNo teams took first in the Womens Junior C and Junior JV B races.
On Sunday, SoNo teams won finals in the the Womens Junior G JV and the Womens Junior G races. The San Diego event is one of the top spring regattas, and SoNo was one of the few high school teams from the East Coast participating in the event. Most of the crews SoNo defeated were West Coast teams that have been on the training on the water far longer than the SoNo teams, which started training on the Norwalk River about two weeks ago.
The members of the SoNo varsity boat included coxswain Katherine Isaza, Rosie Grinalds, Christine Bragg, Lucy Grinalds, Kelsey Reelick, Emily Pik, Kat Lauer, Mary Nilan and Paige Gonye. The junior varsity 8 consisted of coxswain Ali Hornung, Chrissy Wiegand, Alex Enzor, Erin Reelick, Michelle Bravo, Abbie Frey, Emily Frump, Lottie Galliano, and Heather Oudheusden.
