Sonics Open With Win Over Weston

The NJSA Norwalk Sonics U-11 Girls travel soccer team opened the season Sunday with a 4 -1 win against Weston on Sunday. Seena Panagiotidis contributed to the win with two goals, one unassisted shot from the left and another from a breakaway. Meredith Pellegrino scored with a blast from outside the box over the Weston keeper's head. Christy Russo scored on a breakaway assisted by Seena. Midfielder Arianna Marotta contributed by keeping the Weston keeper occupied with a few shots on goal. Sonics keeper Amanda Barker held Weston to one goal with a key save on a direct kick at the edge of the box. Defenders Natalie Cronin, Lindsay McEwan, Sami Ruess, Katie Wardle and Yahaira Novoa shared defensive responsibilities holding the Weston offense to only one goal.
