NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Packers 8-and-under youth football team completed an undefeated season Saturday with a 33-18 victory over Middletown.
Norwalk finished the season 8-0-1. There are no playoffs in the Connecticut Youth Football and Cheer Conference for 8-and-under teams.
Jermel Bynum scored three touchdowns and went over the 1,000 yard plateau for the season with his second game of more than 200 yards rushing. Ethan Hudson and Carmine Giordano each scored touchdowns. Devin Eason converted two extra points on passes to Anthony Monteiro and Max Beres, and ran for the other.
Jason Singer and Carlo Tucci led the defensive charge. Gavin Long, Kervin Soto, Ayden Lonzano, Jacqui Singleton, Timothy Fitol, Jaeden Nance, Jeremy and Jacoby Williams-Abel, Kevin Gordon and Julian Raphaelson also played well on defense.
Players on the Packers are Nyjer Covington, Gavin Long, Devin Eason, Nicky Singer, Max Bares, Jermel Bynum, Carmine Giordano, Kevin Gordon, Anthony Montero, Julian "Ju" Raphaelson, Carlo Tucci, Ethan Hudson, Quincy Carter, Wyatt Vitiello, Jeremy Williams-Abel, Aydan Lozano, Nino Giordano, Jonathan Hernandez, Kevin Soto, Timothy Fifol, Jaedin Nance, Skyler Moye, Jacqai Singleton, Yancy Braxton, Allen Fountain, Eila Olson, Mark Suarez, Bryner Lizano-Quesada, Farrell Lee, Jacoby Williams-Abel and Jason Singer.
Darrick Eason is the head coach assisted by Shawn Bynum, Carlos Morel, Jason Singer, Pete Tucci, John Andresen, Anthony Giordano and Kirk Gordon.
Two Norwalk teams will play in league title games Sunday at Brien McMahon. The 11-and-under team, 8-1, is coached by Chip Meyer. It plays Meriden in the title game at noon. Meriden won a regular-season meeting, 19-12, in September.
The 13-and-under team, coached by Mike DiIorio, meets New Britain at 4 p.m. Norwalk, 8-1, lost to New Britain, 24-19, on Oct. 4.
