Norwalk American Legion Post 12 ran its winning streak to nine in a row Thursday with a 7-0 victory over Stamford at Cubeta Stadium. Andrew Merritt pitched a three-hitter and improved to 5-0. Norwalk improved to 14-1, while Stamford, which has lost five straight, fell to 6-7.
Norwalk jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Spencer Jacoby and a three-run home run by Kevin Daniele. Leon Fleming's two-run double highlighted a three-run fifth inning for Norwalk.
Post 12 meets Darien Friday at Brien McMahon High at 5:30 p.m. and meets Stamford Saturday at 10 a.m. at City Hall Field.
