Norwalk-Based Rowers Win Gold, Make College Choices

NORWALK, Conn. -- Connecticut Boat Club of Norwalk, the only East Coast team that raced, won a gold at the San Diego Fall Classic Regatta held on Mission Bay in San Diego. This fall head regatta was hosted by the historical San Diego Rowing Club.

The following CBC athletes competed in the Girls Junior 1st Varsity 4+ and won first place by 32 seconds: Sophie Perez of Greenwich (coxswain), Julia Cornacchia of Darien, Grace Collins of Ridgefield, Kat Kearn of Greenwich and Lauren Squitieri of Wilton.

In additional CBC news, seven senior athletes have committed to top schools around the United States. Ridgefield's Kaitlyn Kynast and Darien's Julia Cornacchia will attend Stanford; Lauren Squitieri of Wilton and Greenwich's Sophie Perez will attend the University of Pennsylvania; Lilly O'Sullivan of Purchase will attend George Washington; Grace Collins of Ridgefield will head to Michigan and Colleen Visnic of Branford will head to Notre Dame.
