Girls High School Lacrosse Powers Coming to Wilton

Some of the top high school girls lacrosse teams in the country will participate in a jamboree Saturday at Wilton High School. The games are in conjunction with a free clinic conducted by STX for girls in grades 4-8. The Wilton Lacrosse Association is sponsoring the event.

The high school jamboree will give fans a chance to watch some of the nation’s elite players. Teams returning from last year’s event are Wilton, New Canaan, Garden City, N.Y., Moorestown, N.J., Fayetteville-Manlius, N.Y., Longmeadow, Mass., and Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, N.Y.

Of the eight teams, seven finished the 2009 season ranked 117th or better in the final Laxpower national rankings — out of nearly 2,400 teams.West Genesee (third) and Moorsetown (eighth) were both top-10 teams a year ago.

Wilton was a state semifinalist last year and New Canaan played in the state final. The free clinic runs from 2:30-3:30 p.m. For more information, see the Wilton Lacrosse Association Web site.
