On Saturday, ABC defeated the Global Sports team from New York City, 72-61, and the X Men team from Brooklyn, 70-55.
On Sunday morning, injury and illness eventually dropped ABC's game roster down to six players. At 8 a.m., they got out to a fast start, started to tire in the second half, but then rallied to defeat a North East Premier team from Northern Connecticut and Southern Massachusetts, 82-62.
After a two hour break, the six-man ABC roster matched up against a much deeper and fresher 12-man roster, Shot Doc team, made up mostly of players from Greater New Haven and Hamden in the semifinals. In that second game of the morning, ABC players were grabbing their shorts in fatigue but continued to play a gritty tough and close game. A potential game-tying shot rimmed out at the buzzer.
Jack Williams of Wilton, Peter Kotulsky of Norwalk, Justin Seideman of Westport, Carter Scott of Darien, Marcus Fox of Danbury and Jordan Means of White Plains, N.Y., were the mainstays for the team. Andrew Mollenthiel (Danbury High) and Elia Gianopoulos (Greenwich High) also saw significant time.
The team is coached by Greens Farms Academy's Doug Scott, a resident of Darien.
