Beachsides under-15 boys soccer team lost to Baltimore Bays Chelsea, 1-0, on a goal in the 90th minute Monday in the US Youth Soccer Region 1 championship game in Barboursville, W.Va.
Beachside, which is coached by Stamfords Pete Doneit, lost its first game in pool play in the tournament before reeling off three straight wins to reach the final. Baltimore Bays, which had outscored opponents 13-1, went 5-0 in the tournament.
Beachside qualified for the tournament by winning the State Cup in June. The under-12 and under-18 Beachside teams also reached the Region 1 tournament. Both lost in the semifinals on Monday.
