NORWALK, Conn. Elizabeth Williams' third-graders have been teaching other children at their Norwalk Catholic school for weeks with morning announcements about famous African-Americans as part of Black History Month.
The All Saints Catholic School kids started to work on the project in November. They began by reading biographies of famous people and then worked for two months on researching and creating a project one person for Black History Month.
Many of the students had been aware of only Martin Luther King Jr. before they began their projects, Williams said. "The entire project has been a great learning experience," she said in a statement. "I am so impressed by the hard work that my students have put into their projects, and how much they have learned about this very important chapter in U.S. history."
