NORWALK, Conn. — Norwalk High School senior Ava M. Rosato was selected as the 2016 recipient of the Kevin M. Eidt $100,000 Memorial Scholarship.
She was presented with the award at the 17th annual scholarship presentation and benefit dinner dance at The Shore and Country Club in Norwalk.
Gregory Calnon, chair of the Fund’s Scholarship Selection Committee, and first recipient of this scholarship, introduced Rosato at the scholarship presentation.
Since his death, 20 Norwalk High School recipients have received the Kevin M. Eidt Memorial Scholarship.
The $100,000 scholarship was presented to Rosato in recognition of her outstanding dedication and achievements across the spectrum of academics, athletics, arts and community and religious service -- all areas in which Eidt participated and excelled.
Rosato is ranked first in her class at the end of junior year with a 4.46 GPA.
She is currently taking AP courses in Literature & Composition, Statistics, Calculus, European History and Spanish Language as well as Honors Principal Orchestra.
For the first half of her senior year, her GPA is 4.75. Rosato is a member of the Kevin M. Eidt Chapter of the Norwalk High School National Honor Society, president of the Spanish National Honor Society and vice-president of both the senior class and student government.
Rosato is a three-year member of the Girls’ varsity Cross Country Team, a two-year member of the Girl’s Indoor Track Team, a two-year member of the Girls’ varsity Tennis Team, and in senior year manager of the Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team.
She plans on matriculating at Georgetown University in the fall.
Rosato was selected from a pool of applicants meeting the following criteria:
- Member in good standing of the Norwalk High School Honor Society, (whose chapter is named in memory of Eidt)
- Ranked in the top 10% of their class at the end of their junior year
- Resident of Norwalk
- Citizen of the United States
- By the time of graduation, must complete a minimum of six semesters at Norwalk High School
The recipient is selected based on the way their application, recommendations and interview most reminded the Selection Committee of Kevin Eidt.
