The site on Allen Road is now home to six pre-kindergarten classrooms that can accommodate up to 18 children per room.

Participants at the ribbon-cutting ceremony included Steven Adamowski, superintendent of schools; Mayor Harry Rilling; Board of Education members Yvel Crevecoeur and Bryan Meek; Common Council members Rich Bonenfant and Tom Livingston, and State Reps. Bruce Morris, Gail Lavielle and Fred Wilms.

The Norwalk Early Childhood Center (NECC) offers six classrooms with two half-day programs in each, and serves both special needs and typical students.

The NECC program supports the development of each child through exciting academic, cognitive, emotional, language, physical and creative activities, according to a release from NECC.

The curriculum addresses the strengths, needs and interests of each child, both with and without disabilities, the release said.
