NORWALK, Conn. -- Three students from Norwalk Community College teamed up to win the College Bowl at the fall meeting of the New England Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine in Providence, R.I.
NCC’s team of Melissa D’Agostino, Andre Aiken and Antoine Steward won a competition in which students demonstrated their knowledge of Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology and Anatomy/Physiology. Norwalk CC was the only two-year institution at the bowl. The other 19 teams represented four-year schools including the University of Massachusetts, the University of Connecticut, University of Rhode Island and Southern Connecticut.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment for the Exercise Science Program and NCC,’’ said Dr. Paul Gallo, NCC’s Director of the Exercise Science and Wellness program.
D'Agostino lives in Norwalk, Aiken in Bridgeport and Steward in New York.
Norwalk’s team will represent New England schools in the ACSM national meeting in May. It will compete against 12 other chapter winners for the national College Bowl title.
