The school sent parents an email giving them the bad news, The Hour reported.

The school's website still invites parents to enroll their pre-school and kindergarten-age children, however.

Clover Hill was at Christ Episcopal Church on Emerson Street.

The school was opened in 2004 by believers in the play-based “Waldorf” method of education, The Hour story said.

According to Wikipedia, the Waldorf, or Steiner, method is based on "anthroposophy," the educational, therapeutic and creative philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, an Austrian social reformer.

Teaching at Waldorf schools is said to emphasize the role of imagination in learning.

The method also strives to holistically integrate pupils’ intellectual, practical and artistic development, the Wikipedia entry said.

School officials did not return The Hour’s calls for comment, the newspaper said.
