Another Fairfield County school is switching over to its distance learning model through the Thanksgiving holiday as the mounting number of COVID-19 cases caused a minor staffing shortage.

Nathan Hale Middle School in Norwalk went all-virtual beginning on Monday, Nov. 23 due to newly confirmed COVID-19 cases. Students will not return to in-person learning through Monday, Nov. 30.

School officials said that the case required more staff members to quarantine, forcing the switch to remote learning.

The move comes days after the Brien McMahon High School and the Center for Global Students made the same decision, with plans to return to its hybrid model on Nov. 30.

“The decision to move to full remote instruction was made after carefully considering the safety and well-being of all students and staff,” district officials wrote to the community. “Teachers and staff will also be working remotely and will be in contact with all students on Monday morning at 8:30 (a.m.)”
