The competition will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held at Norwalk City Hall's Concert Hall.
“This is a lively fundraiser meant for families to enjoy,” Marge Costa, interim executive director of the Norwalk Education Foundation, said in a press release.
“The participants dress up in team costumes and are cheered on by their fans.”
Teams will compete for cash prizes and special awards such as Best Costume, Most Original Team Name, and Most Team Spirit.
This year’s Master of Ceremonies will be Harry Carey, director of external affairs for AT&T, and state Rep. Gail LaVielle. The judges are Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff, Joseph Giandurco of Ponus Ridge Middle School and Brian Irrera of Fox Run Middle School.
The Community Spelling Bee serves as a fundraiser for the Norwalk Education Foundation, which is a strategic partner with Norwalk Public Schools. NEF is the strategic partner to Norwalk Public Schools and generates resources for Teacher Effectiveness, Classroom Innovation, Community Outreach and Student Programs.
