Brien McMahon will kick things off at 4 p.m., and Norwalk High School will follow at 6 p.m. Both ceremonies will be held at the stadiums of each school.
Norwalk’s third high school, Richard C. Briggs High School on Main Avenue, held its graduation ceremony Thursday at the Center for Global Studies at Brien McMahon.
In case of rain Friday, both the Brien McMahon and Norwalk High events will be moved indoors to the schools’ gyms, where seating will be limited.
Both schools pride themselves on preparing students for the rigors of the world in the 21st century, but they also want to ensure that the send off for those students goes off with as few distractions as possible.
“Students/families/friends are PROHIBITED from bringing items that may be disruptive to others,” the school system states on its website. “This includes, but is not limited to, BALLOONS, beach balls, streamers, silly string and noise makers.”
With two schools holding ceremonies across town so close together, the city’s Board of Education will have to hustle between events. Interim Superintendent Tony Daddona said a bus will drive the members between the two ceremonies to ensure they all arrive on time.
“You’ll be shaking about 800 hands,” he told members earlier this week.
