Voter Registration Deadline Near For Primary In Norwalk

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Voters in Connecticut have until Sept. 9, to register in person to vote in next week's primaries, Gov. Dannel Malloy's office reminded residents via Twitter.

Primaries will be held Tuesday in 21 towns and cities in Connecticut.

On Sept. 10, municipal primaries will be held in 21 towns and cities across the state, including in Norwalk and Stamford:

Stamford Democrats will hold a primary for mayor as well as for members of the Board of Representatives in Districts 6 and 13.
Stamford Republicans will hold a primary for members of the Board of Representatives in Districts 13 and 18.
Norwalk Democrats will hold a primary to pick a mayoral candidate.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Secretary of the State Denise Merrill said in a statement.

Residents can register in person at the local Registrar of Voters office. You can find a voter registration form online here.

Unaffiliated voters have the same deadline to enroll in a major party if they want to vote in the primary in their city. A voter may cast a ballot only in a primary for the political party in which they are enrolled.

Voters can go to the Secretary of the State’s website to see if they are registered to vote and where their polling place is located.

Absentee ballots must be received by Town Clerks’ Offices no later than 8 p.m. Sept. 10.

In addition to Stamford and Norwalk, primaries will be taking place in Bethel, Bridgeport, Cromwell, East Haven, Enfield, Haddam, Killingworth, Lisbon, Middletown, Milford, New Haven, North Haven, Norwich, Sherman, South Windsor, Stratford, Torrington, West Haven and Woodbury.

The majority of Connecticut’s municipalities will hold general elections for municipal candidates on Nov. 5.
