A New Canaan woman who crashed into a dumpster in town was under the influence, police said.
The crash occurred at around 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 in the area of 38 Forest Street.
Upon arriving, officers made contact with the operator of the vehicle who struck the City Carting & Recycling container, identified as 37-year-old Deborah Catalano, police said.
Catalano admitted to having approximately four to five drinks earlier in the evening, according to police. Subsequent Standardized Field Sobriety Testing was administered and Catalano failed these tests and was taken into custody, said police.
Catalano was taken into custody, transported to police headquarters, processed, refused to submit to a BAC test, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, posted the listed bond and released for a Jan. 30 court date.
