Woman, 23, Charged After Baby Found Alone Crying In Car, Greenwich Police Say

A 23-year-old woman was charged after allegedly leaving her infant alone in a vehicle while she shopped in Fairfield County.

Wendy May Dimartino, of Stamford, was arrested after surrounding to Greenwich Police on Thursday, March 26, for the incident which took place on Wednesday, March 11, on Liberty Way, said Greenwich Police.

According to police, a citizen reported to Greenwich officers that an infant had been left alone in a car for at least 15 minutes, police said.

Officers arrived on the scene and found the baby and were able to locate the mother shopping about 100 yards away, police said.

The department applied for an arrested warrant for an unsupervised child under 12 left in a public place and received the warrant on Wednesday, March 18. 

Dimarito appeared at police headquarters and was able to post a $10,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 20.
