Witness Tails Teen In Car To Help New Canaan Police Make Arrest

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A 17-year-old New Canaan resident is facing a pair of drug charges and driving with a suspended license after being spotted smoking marijuana near a school playground Sunday afternoon.

Police said they were called after a report of a pair of teens smoking marijuana near Saxe Middle School around 2:30 p.m. When they arrived the teens were no longer there but a witness followed the vehicle and notified police. The vehicle was stopped by police on Main Street near Harrison Avenue.

Police discovered a small amount of marijuana and rolling papers in the vehicle and was issued a juvenile summons for the drug charges. Police also discovered the 17-year-old male had a suspended license and he was issued a summons for that as well.
