Two Charged With Stealing From Mohegan Lake Walmart

MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. -- New York State Police have arrested two women after the duo allegedly stole hundreds of dollar’s-worth of merchandise from a Mohegan Lake Walmart before threatening employees with a gun and fleeing in a getaway vehicle.

New York State Police arrested Jean M. Rodrigues on robbery charges for allegedly stealing $500 from the Mohegan Lake Walmart.

Working with the Cortlandt Bureau of Criminal Investigation, state police arrested Jean M. Rodrigues of Yonkers and Pleasantville’s Miriam Gonzalez on Nov. 20 for a June incident that occurred at the Mohegan Lake Walmart, 3133 E. Main St., according to the New York State Police.

Walmart employees summoned police after confronting Rodrigues, who allegedly stole more than $500 in merchandise. The 55-year-old Rodrigues, upon being confronted by Walmart loss prevention officials, threatened the imminent use of a gun. Rodrigues jumped into an awaiting car driven by Gonzalez, 52, who then fled the scene.

Police booked Rodrigues on charges of robbery in the third degree, a class-D felony. She was remanded to the Westchester County Jail where she awaits a Dec. 4 appearance in Cortlandt Court. Gonzalez will face petit larceny charges on Nov. 30 in the same court.
