NORWALK, Conn. – A New Jersey man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the theft of more than $2,200 worth of power tools from a Norwalk garage earlier this year, police said.
A Thames Street resident called to report a break-in to his unattached garage Jan. 17, according to police reports. The items reported stolen included nail guns, a socket wrench set, a laser level and power drills. The total value of the items was estimated at $2,280, police said.
The resident called police again Jan. 30 after finding some of the items at a Main Avenue pawn shop, according to police reports. The shop’s records showed that Conrad Petersen, 24, of Morristown, N.J., had sold the items to the store, police said.
Petersen was arrested Jan. 31 and charged in a different burglary case, according to state court records. Petersen missed his court date in the case earlier this year and turned himself in Tuesday after learning of a warrant for a failure to appear charge, according to police reports.
During his processing police found an active warrant for the Thames Street burglary, as well as another burglary case from Ithaca County, N.Y., police said. He was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny Tuesday, and held on $5,000 bond. He is due in court on Sept. 19.
