Police said the teacher couldn't find her phone during the day, but it wasn't until about 8 p.m. Wednesday that she notified police after failing to find it at her home.
Using the "where's my phone" application on her computer, the woman was able to show Officer Heather Franc that the phone was in the area of South Pacific Street and traveling south, police said.
Franc contacted officers in the area, and Officer Javon Lake saw a teenager wearing a backpack walking south on South Pacific Street and stopped him, police said.
After the teen was stopped, the teacher activated the audible alarm that could then clearly be heard coming from the teen's backpack, police said.
The 16-year-old was charged with fifth-degree larceny and released to his parents.
