An 18-year-old from Norwalk surrendered to police in connection with a fatal 2018 crash that killed a motorcyclist in Stamford.

Justin Foley surrendered himself to the Stamford Police Friday and was charged with misconduct with a motor vehicle following an investigation into the Sept. 23, 2018 crash, said Stamford Police Sgt. Jeffrey Booth.

The arrest comes on the heels of an investigation into the deadly crash by the department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad that killed Rene A. Sandoval-Romero, 26, of Stamford, Booth said.

The crash took place around 7 p.m. on Tresser Boulevard at Canal Street when Foley, driving a 2012 Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on Tresser Boulevard, intending to turn left onto Canal Street southbound, when he collided with the motorcycle, a 2004 Yamaha YZ600, Booth said.

Sandoval-Romero sustained severe injuries in the crash. He was transported to Stamford Hospital where he died of injuries he sustained in the crash.

Foley was released after posting a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 1.

The collision was investigated by Sergeants Jeffrey Booth and Andrew Gallagher
