Norwalk Police School Resource Officer Completes D.A.R.E. Training

NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk School Resource Officer Jermaine Nash recently graduated from D.A.R.E. training and will be teaching D.A.R.E. classes during the upcoming school year.

The Connecticut State Police also graduated 14 troopers from D.A.R.E. training on July 31; part of a large class of 33 troopers and officers from around the country.

For two weeks, troopers and officers were enrolled in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education class at the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden. They are now certified to teach the D.A.R.E. classes to middle school children in their municipalities.

Officers from Connecticut towns completed training including New Haven, Groton City, Vernon, Stonington, Plymouth, Norwalk, Winchester and Torrington.

Officers from Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and North Carolina also graduated. 

The graduation took place at the State Police Academy. Guest speaker for the graduation was Lt. Robert Palmer, commanding officer of the Connecticut State Police Training Academy; class speaker was Officer Greg Belcher of the Newport, R.I. Police Department; and closing remarks were made by TFC Rafael Morales of the Connecticut State Police.
