NORWALK, Conn. -- A man armed with a handgun attempted to rob a Westport Avenue gas station Tuesday night, but it appeared he was "spooked" by customers driving in and fled without taking any money, Norwalk Police said.
Just after 8 p.m. Tuesday, a man who had covered himself walked into the gas station at 391 Westport Ave. and pointed a handgun, said Sgt. Sofia Gulino.
However, a couple of customers drove into the gas station and it appeared to have "spooked" the would-be robber, who then ran out of the gas station without any money, Gulino said.
The suspect ran in the direction of Strawberry Hill Avenue, but police, even with the assistance of the K-9 unit, wasn't able to find him, Gulino said.
