NORWALK, Conn. -- In an effort to enhance public safety during the holiday season, the Norwalk Department of Police Service will be conducting a DUI checkpoint on Saturday from 7 p.m.to 3 a.m. along the West Avenue corridor.
In 2015, 10,265 people died in the U.S. in alcohol-impaired crashes, up 3.2 percent from 9,943 in 2014, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Alcohol-related fatalities accounted for about one out of three highway deaths on U.S. roads in 2015.
