NORWALK, Conn. — Norwalk Police arrested seven women on prostitution charges in a sting operation that was part of an investigation into prostitution services offered online, according to the Hour.
The women were contacted by police using the website backpage.com, a Craigslist-style site that offers a variety of services, the Hour reported. Undercover officers arranged meetings with the women at a Norwalk hotel, where the women arrived and negotiated prices for services, according to the Hour. Police told the Hour that once the women began to undress, officers would arrive and arrest them.
Five of the women were charged with prostitution, while two more were charged with two counts of prostitution. One of the women was also charged with drug possession after police found marijuana, methamphetamine and more than $850 in cash on her, the Hour reported.
The investigation was conducted by Norwalk Police, along with Connecticut State Police, and the Department of Homeland Security's Human Trafficking Unit, according to the Hour.
